Ancient Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

Taste of desert : 2 days / 1 night

Day 1 Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Agdz – Zagora

We will depart from Marrakech to cross the Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains We will stop to visit the argon oil cooperative before continuing to UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch at a local restaurant, we will pass by the Anti Atlas mountains, the Berber villages of Agdez and the amazing Draa Valley with its valleys of palm trees. We will arrive early evening in Zagora to prepare for departure on the camel into the desert to see the sunset on top of the dunes. We will have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea and listen to traditional berber music while watching the stars in the amazing Sahara desert. We will spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.

Day 2 Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We will rise early to see the spectacle of the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara before making our way back to Zagora hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will return via the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate to visit the Taourirt Kasbah and have lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Marrakech in the late afternoon. Erg Chebbi

 

Desert Experience : 3 days / 2 nights

Day 1 Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Valley of the Roses – Dades Gorge

We will make an early morning departure from Marrakech to cross the Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains with a short stop for coffee and a visit the argan oil cooperative. We will stop for lunch at UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous Kasbah in Morocco. After lunch we will continue through the Skoura Oasis, where numerous ancient Kasbahs stand amongst the palm trees. From here, the route takes us through Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses, with a stop to see cosmetics locally made from the valley’s abundant roses. We will continue to the Dades Gorge where we will stay in a hotel by the river for the night.

Day 2 Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will have time to walk by the river before continuing to Todra Gorge for lunch. We will drive via the town of Erfoud to arrive at Erg Chebbi hotel early afternoon. We will prepare for departure on the camel into the desert to see the sunset on top of the dunes. We will have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, listen to traditional berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing Sahara desert. We will spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.

Day 3 Merzouga – Rissani – N’Kob – Agdez – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

We will rise early to see the spectacle of the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will pass through Rissani, the ancient capital of Morocco. The drive will take us through the Berber villages of Alnif and N’Kob and through the Draa Valley to Agdez. We will continue to Ouarzazate, where we will have lunch and visit the Taourirt Kasbah. We will return to Marrakech over the High Atlas mountains to arrive in the early evening.

Marrakech to Fes : 4 days / 3 nights

Day 1 Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorge

Day 2 Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After breakfast we will take a short drive to Todra Gorge We will take a walk to see the sheer rock walls that rise to 300 m in the narrowest parts before continuing to Merzouga. We will arrive late afternoon to our Erg Chebbi hotel and prepare for departure on the camels. We will take a 90 minute camel ride to see the sunset on top of the dunes before arriving to the desert camp. We will have a traditional tagine, drink delicious mint tea and listen to traditional berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing Sahara desert. We will spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.

Day 3 Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani – Merzouga

We will rise early to see the spectacle of the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the amazing changing contrasts of the of the desert. We will visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians before having a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. After lunch you can visit the traditional markets and/or drink coffee at one of the many cafes while watching the day to day life of the city.

Day 4 Merzouga – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes

We will travel via the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas mountains as we depart the desert region to Fes. We will drive through the cedar forests of Azrou and stop to hand feed the monkeys. We will continue via Ifrane, the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ to arrive early evening to Fes.


 

Fes to Merzouga to Fes : 3 days / 2nights

Day 1 Fes to Merzouga

Meet at 8am (7am in winter months when days are short) and head southacross the Middle Atlas via Ifrane, Azrou, cedar forests, Midelt,Errachidia Ziz valley , Erfoud and Rissani. It is an interesting route with a break for lunch around Midelt. Arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes where the camel guide will be waiting to take you across the sands of the Sahara. Camel trek for around 1.5hrs into the deep desert dunes to sleep under the stars in a nomad-tented camp. Desert camp to include evening meal and breakfast.

Day 2 Merzouga to Todra Gorges

Your guide will wake you up early in the morning to see the amazing sunrise over the dunes then ride camels back to your Auberge in Merzouga to re-fresh and take breakfast, we will visit a house and listen to some gnawa music, before departing for Todra Gorge & Tinehir. One of the highlights of the South is the massive fault in the plateau that divides the High Atlas from the Jebel Sarhro, called the Todra Gorges. The crystal clear river emerging from the deep ochre and pink rock formations offer a dramatic landscape and great photographic opportunites. we will spend the night in the hotel .

Day 3 Todra Gorges to Fes

We will go through the Berber villages of Tamtatoucht and Ait Hani. We may stop for tea or lunch with the inhabitant. We follow our way in beautiful scenery until we arrive to Imilchil, the famous Berber village not only for the wedding Festival but also for the 2 lakes : Isli – Tislit . we cross the Atlas Mountains, back to Fez where our trip ends.


 

Fes to Gorges to Desert to Fes: 4 days/ 3 nights

Day 1 Fez – Toudra Gorges

Leaving Fez in the morning, passing cedar forests of Azrou where the wild monkeys are located. It will be good opportunity to take photos of wilderness in Morocco. Lunch in a small Berber village of Zaida. We continue the way through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscapes of Medilt to arrive to the small town of Rich. Here ,we turn right to pass through the famous town of Imilchil before arriving to Toudra Gorges where we’ll spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2 Toudra Gorges – Merzouga

After breakfast, we say good bye to Toudra gorges on the way to the Sahara desert of Merzouga/Erg Chebbi. Berber villages are scattered along the way. We’ll pass through Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Lunch in Rissani, and then continue to Merzouga, where we’ll find our camels waiting for us for the camel trekking in the dunes of erg Chebbi, which are considered as the highest ones in North Africa. It is a great experience to imagine yourself riding a camel in erg chebbi where the silence of the desert is the dominant. Dinner is served under a Berber tent if it is cold and in an open air if it is hot. Your camel man will do his best to make you enjoy your camel trekking with a fire and Berber drums.

Day 3 Merzouga – Camel Trekking-Erg Chebbi Merzouga

After breakfast, you will go all the way round the dunes via the oasis of merzouga, the nomadic depository, khamlia village Blacks’ village. You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will travel back to your hotel where we’ll spend the night in a hotel. “Auberge le petit prince”

Day 4 Merzouga-Fes

After breakfast We’ll start the trip back to Fez. We’ll take the national route 13 passing through Ziz Valley in Errachidia. We change the route in Zaida to go through Boulmane to arrive in Fez.

Fes to Marrakech : 4 days/ 3 nights

Day 1 Fes – Ifran – Midelt – Merzouga

Depart early from fez you will begin your ascent We pass through Ifrane, a winter ski resort in a totally un Moroccan style built by the French in the 1930’s to resemble a Swiss village;we visit the cedars forest in azrou you will see the monkeys , drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, springs, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Sahara Desert. Half way, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks, then we continue towards merzouga in the road we will stop in a panoramic views to see the a huge oasis of palm tree we reach to merzouga in the afternoon, we will spend the night in a hotel near the desert./Auberge le petit prince.

Day 2 Merzouga

After breakfast and rest we will start an adventure 4×4 tour of approximately half day in the desert to see the different faces of desert dunes with its black volcanic rocks, passing through small villages, where we will stop to drink mint tea and lunch with a Berber family in their tent, along the road used by the Paris Dakar rally We will reach a cave where you can discover how the local people extract the fossils from the heart of the earth,lunch with a Berber family , in the after noon ,your guide and camels will be waiting for you after rest ,you will start a camel trekking across the sandy dunes of the erg-chebbi. Camel trek across a desert landscape,you will enjoy the beauty of the sunset on camel, after 1:30 hours you will reach to the desert camp to spend night in a berbre tent. At your desert shelter, your camels are hobbled and mint tea is served. After a wonderful dinner, there will be a camp fire and drums playing, and we will listen to the songs of the Berbers,Nomads of Southern Moroccan.

Day 3 Merzouga – Rissani – Gorges Todra and Dades

In the morning you can get up early, take a walk over the sand dunes and watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, which is about 50 km from Merzouga. We take camel back to the hotel. You will take shower and breakfast and relax; you will be given the opportunity to take nice pictures before and after breakfast. Then we take road towards gorges .we stop to visit Rissani ,the town where the alaouite dynasty established (ruling now in morocco) you will see :the monument historic of sijilmassa the big center of desert trade,the Kasbahs (village fortify) in the area of Rissani there is more than 350 kasbah, mausoleum of moulay ali charif (the founder of alaouite dynasty), museum of lfida ,the souq ;the big market of the area.then we continue passing through the ziz valley and gorges ,we will have a walk in gorge todra to enjoy the beauty of rivers and mountains ,we reach to dades gorge,diner and over night in a nice and traditional Kasbah.

Day 4 Gorges – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast you will have a walk in the gorges to enjoy the beauty of the mountains ,then we stop to visit the town of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios movie studios, the largest and most famous of all Africa. From here we head to the Fint Oasis near Ouarzazate. We then take the Tizi-n-Tichka road stopping for lunch in a small village. We will then reach Marrakech in the late afternoon for the end of the tour.
